CRM Frequently Asked Questions
Who
participates in the CRM Program?
Individuals in risk management and the related fields
of insurance, accounting, finance, law, loss control,
and human resources. Prior experience and/or knowledge
of insurance and risk management are strongly recommended.
Why
did The National Alliance develop a risk management
program?
Our research showed that the risk management industry
lacked focused classroom educational opportunities.
Increasingly, risk managers have become more relevant
and important to their organizations. Our research determined
that the risk management community wanted a practical,
immediately applicable approach for identifying,
controlling, and financing their
organization's risk. They also wanted a customizable
textbook that provides answers to current problems.
The CRM Program was developed to train risk managers
to address the potential issues faced by organizations
in today's fast-changing world.
Should
I take the courses in any specific order?
It is not required that you take the courses in any
specific order. You may want to begin with a course
that you are familiar with. If you are new to the risk
management field, we recommend that the courses be taken
in the following order: Principles of Risk Management,
Analysis of Risk, Control of Risk, Financing of Risk,
and Practice of Risk Management.
Does
the CRM designation qualify me for the RIMS Fellow program?
Yes.
The CRM designation is one of the professional designations
required by RIMS
to participate in the RIMS Fellow program
for experienced risk management professionals.
