Is CISR OnLine Right For Me?

This survey is designed to help you decide if you are a good candidate for CISR OnLine. Online courses are not ideally suited to every student's learning style. There are no right or wrong answers to the questions below. However, your answers should give you an idea of the skills a successful online student will need.

  1.  My need to take this course is:
  1. high - I need it immediately to meet a      continuing education deadline, my      agency requires it, my company      requires that I earn a designation, I      would like to earn a designation, or other      important reason.

  2. moderate - I could take it later in the      year or substitute another course.

  3. low - it is a personal interest that could      be postponed.

  2.  Having face-to-face interaction with an
     instructor is:
    1. not particularly important to me.

    2. somewhat important to me.

    3. very important to me.

   3.  When attending a course in my region where      many agencies are represented:
    1. I'm reluctant to share specific business and      office-related practices.

    2. I've never considered the pros or cons of      sharing specific business and office-related      practices.

    3. I have no concerns about sharing specific      business and office-related practices.

  4. When an instructor hands out directions for an
    assignment I prefer:
    1. figuring out the instructions myself.

    2. trying to follow the directions on my own, then      asking for help as needed.

    3. having the instructions explained to me.

  5. When I am working on the computer at the     office, I have the opportunity for at least one     hour of uninterrupted quiet time.
    1. often

    2. sometimes

    3. rarely

  6. Considering my professional and personal     schedule, the amount of time I have to work on     an online course is:
    1. more than for a classroom course.      (approximately 8 hours)

    2. about the same as for a classroom course.      (approximately 8 hours)

    3. less than for a classroom course.

           (approximately 8 hours)

  7. When I am asked to use email, computers, or     other new technologies presented to me:
    1. I look forward to learning new skills.

    2. I feel apprehensive, but try anyway.

    3. I put it off or try to avoid it

  8. When I am asked to use email, computers, or     other new technologies presented to me:
    1. good - I usually understand the text
           without help.

    2. average - I sometimes need help to      understand the text.

    3. below average - I often need help to      understand the text.

9. If I have to go to a local hotel or other     location     to take a course or complete work:

    1. I frequently have difficulty getting there at a      prescribed date and time.

    2. I sometimes have difficulty getting there at a      prescribed date and time.

    3. I seldom have difficulty getting there at a      prescribed date and time.

If you scored 7 or more A's, you are a good candidate for CISR OnLine.  If you scored mostly B's, you might consider some CISR OnLine courses and some CISR classroom courses. If you scored mostly C's, you will probably be most comfortable and successful in a classroom setting.
