Michael Hay

Bio Detail

Mike Hay is the CEO of Strategic Risk Consulting, LLC. His broad professional background in financial management and risk management, teamed with his experience in using information technology to achieve critical business objectives, allows him to assist his public and private sector clients in planning and addressing their risks at enterprise and strategic levels. Mike's prior professional experience includes positions as Director of Risk Management Programs for The National Alliance for Insurance Education and Research as well as Director of Information Resources and Risk Assessment / Loss Prevention for the Texas State Office of Risk Management. Mike also has extensive public sector experience with the Texas State Comptroller's Office and as Assistant Superintendent for Business for several school districts. Mike has led in the development of several large-scale information technology and risk management projects including the Texas State Property Accounting System, Texas Budget Execution and Monitoring System and the Texas Risk Evaluation and Planning System. Mike is a past president of the National Property Management Association (NPMA) and is an author of NPMA's "The Standard Property Book - Asset Management for the New Millennium" and is an author of "Essentials of Risk Management" published by The National Alliance for Insurance Education and Research. Mike is a national faculty member for The National Alliance's Certified Risk Manager Program and also serves on the faculty for the Certified School Risk Manager and Certified Insurance Service Representative programs. In addition to his risk management consulting services, Mike teaches and lectures throughout the nation on topics related to risk and property management and continues to write numerous articles for national and international publications.

John Neal

Bio Detail

John Neal has over 20 years' experience in both analysis and financing of risk. As Manager of Analysis for Risk Management Solutions, he manages a team of ten Risk Management Consultants responsible for supporting Liberty Mutual's Commercial Market Distribution and Service Management Department. John provided analytical support for consulting projects, risk financing design and structuring, finite (financial) insurance products, cost allocation projects, loss analysis, captive support, and industry benchmarking. John has also held positions as a Risk Financing Analyst and Senior Risk Management Consultant. Prior to entering the insurance and risk management field, John worked ten years in the pollution control and medical device industries as a chemical and manufacturing engineer, accountant, and financial manager. John's academic background includes a BS from the University of California, Santa Barbara and an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh.

Peter Cross

Peter Cross has a Masters in Risk and Insurance Management at Boston University, a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Tasmania Australia in finance and accounting, and holds the insurance industry designations CPCU, Chartered Property & Casualty Underwriter, ARM - Associate Risk Management (ERM/RMPE) and ARe Associate in Reinsurance from the American Institute for Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters & CIC - Certified Insurance Counselor and CRM - Certified Risk Manager from The National Alliance for Insurance Education & Research. He is currently working toward completing his Associate in Insurance Data Analytics (AIDA). For a decade and a half, Peter worked extensively in derivatives and trading of various underlying securities both in the USA and internationally. During the last 15 years, he has been working in the insurance and risk management field. Insurance & Risk management has him looking to balance various financial, risk, operational and strategic objectives for clients as part of a management engagement process working with the c suite of firms. Peter conducted this practice as a successful insurance agency owner for over a decade in Southern California until the end of 2014. He now works with Aon in Dallas Texas working with a focus on larger and complex clients that predominately look to use financing of risk approaches as noted in this course. Working on clients with large retentions, single and group captives through to CAT Bond opportunities for a select few. The approach to clients is an actionable analytics focus that allows clients to consider analytics for P&C plus Health & Benefits issues that have both national and international exposures to be managed.
