Lynne Lovell

Bio Detail

Lynne Lovell's experience encompasses the areas of life insurance & employee benefits, property & casualty insurance, and risk management. As an independent contractor, Lynne is an Educational Consultant and faculty member for both the CIC and CRM programs offered by The National Alliance as well as faculty for eight of the nine-parts of the CISR program. She travels throughout the United States providing her expertise to help others better their careers in insurance and risk management. In addition, Lynne works with various insurance companies and others helping to develop in-house training programs. Lynne is Past-President of the Arizona Central RIMS Chapter as well as Past President of the Greater Phoenix Chapter of the Society of Financial Services Professionals and has served on national committees to support these organizations. Lynne is a past member of the Board of Governors for The Society of CIC and has served on the Insurance Advisory Committee of Nuclear Electric Insurance Limited. She currently participates on the Valley of The Sun YMCA Risk Management Committee. Lynne holds an undergraduate degree in Finance, graduating magna cum laude.

Michael Hay

Mike Hay is the CEO of Strategic Risk Consulting, LLC. His broad professional background in financial management and risk management, teamed with his experience in using information technology to achieve critical business objectives, allows him to assist his public and private sector clients in planning and addressing their risks at enterprise and strategic levels. Mike's prior professional experience includes positions as Director of Risk Management Programs for The National Alliance for Insurance Education and Research as well as Director of Information Resources and Risk Assessment / Loss Prevention for the Texas State Office of Risk Management. Mike also has extensive public-sector experience with the Texas State Comptroller's Office and as Assistant Superintendent for Business for several school districts. Mike has led in the development of several large-scale information technology and risk management projects including the Texas State Property Accounting System, Texas Budget Execution and Monitoring System and the Texas Risk Evaluation and Planning System. Mike is a past president of the National Property Management Association (NPMA) and is an author of NPMA's "The Standard Property Book - Asset Management for the New Millennium" and is an author of "Essentials of Risk Management" published by The National Alliance for Insurance Education and Research. Mike is a national faculty member for The National Alliance's Certified Risk Manager Program and serves on the faculty for the Certified School Risk Manager and Certified Insurance Service Representative programs. In addition to his risk management consulting services, Mike teaches and lectures throughout the nation on topics related to risk and property management and continues to write numerous articles for national and international publications.

Lance Ewing

Bio Detail

Lance J. Ewing has extensive executive experience in the field of risk management and insurance including his role as EVP Global Risk Management for Cotton Holdings, Inc. Previously he was the VP Real Estate and Hospitality & Leisure Industry Practice Group Leader at AIG with a portfolio of $1.4B of GWP. Prior to this position he served in senior global risk management capacities for Caesars Entertainment, GES Exposition Services/VIAD and for the City of Philadelphia School District. Mr. Ewing additionally worked for various insurance companies including Lumbermen's Underwriting Alliance, Pennsylvania Hospital Insurance Company (PHICO) and New York Lumberman's Insurance Trust in risk management, underwriting and risk control capacities. He also was President of three insurance captives. Mr. Ewing received his Master's degree in Law & Justice from the University of Pittsburgh and completed his second Master's degree in Occupational Safety Engineering. In addition to his Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designation and his International Certified Risk Manager (CRM) designation, he is a matriculated Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) candidate and has completed his Enterprise Risk Management Professional designation (ERMP). Lance was National President in 2003-2004 for the Risk & Insurance Management Society (RIMS) and was also their Chief Risk Officer (CRO). He teaches risk management as a faculty member for the National Alliance for Insurance Education & Research. He also served as a Board member for the Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) Board. In 2004, he was privileged to have a scholarship in his name (Lance J. Ewing Educational Scholarship) for the Certified Risk Management International designation which grants educational scholarships. He serves on the University of Mississippi Business School (Risk Management) Advisory Board, where a scholarship was created "Ewing Endowment for Business Excellence in Risk Management and Insurance". Mr. Ewing was honored as the Real Estate Insurance Leader in 2014-2015 for Globe Street and was the 2008 Risk Innovator of the Year. In 2007, Lance was named Risk Manager of the Year (Business Insurance). He has authored several articles on insurance, risk management, crisis management, and workers' compensation. He is a frequent speaker on enterprise risk management, global claims, disaster recovery, and risk financing issues for organizations including Claims Litigation Management (CLM), USLAW, Harmonie Legal Group, RIMS, Willis Real Estate Symposium, and AON Conference. Mr. Ewing is an expert witness as part of the Insurance Expert Network. Lance has worked and spoken internationally to promote insurance and risk management as well as developed unique risk transfer and claims settlement opportunities for his companies and clients. Mr. Ewing continues to be a strong and outspoken supporter of the risk management/insurance profession.

Jeffrey Driver

Bio Detail

Jeff Driver is the Chief Executive Officer of, The Risk Authority and is the Chief Risk Officer for the Stanford University Medical Center in Stanford, California, and Executive Vice President for Stanford's captive insurance company, the Stanford University Medical Indemnity & Trust Insurance Company, domiciled in Bermuda. In his prior position, Jeff was the Chief Risk Officer and director of regulatory advocacy at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts. With over twenty years of experience as a risk management professional, he has had responsibility for managing the enterprise risk in community, tertiary, and academic medical centers. Responsibilities have included: strategic planning, incorporating and managing subsidiary insurance companies, assuring organization corporate compliance, claims and litigation management, patient safety and loss control, benefits administration, employment practices consulting, and the development, reorganization, and implementation of alternate risk financing programs. Risk financing designs have included self-insured trusts, captives, segregated portfolios, integrated risk programs, as well as commercial placements. Jeff holds a Juris Doctor from Thomas Jefferson School of Law in San Diego, California, a Master of Business Administration degree from Cleveland State University in Cleveland, Ohio, and a Bachelor of Science in Allied Health Professions from Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. He is a member of the State Bar of California and has been awarded the Distinguished Fellow (DFASHRM) designation by The American Society for Healthcare Risk Management (ASHRM) and Associate in Risk Management (ARM) by the Insurance Institute of America. He is a Past President of ASHRM (2004) and has been a multiyear member of ASHRM's Board of Directors as well as Steering Committee Chair of ASHRM's JCAHO Liaison, Advocacy, and Legislative & Regulatory Affairs Task Forces. Jeff is a frequent speaker and author on risk management issues and has served as faculty to ASHRM's Barton Certificate in Healthcare Risk Management Program and to the Harvard Medical School. Jeff is a faculty member for The National Alliance CRM Program. Jeff was awarded membership to the Risk Management Honor Roll in April 2008 by Business Insurance Magazine. Jeff is the Founder and President of MedRisk Defenders, LLC, which provides global strategic risk management advice and consultation throughout the health service sector.
