This course, like Commercial Casualty I, strengthens your ability to have productive, assured interactions with your commercial customers in the area of commercial casualty exposures and coverages. In this course the focus is the Business Auto Policy, the Workers Compensation Policy and Excess Liability Policies. You will improve your understanding in each of these areas.

Kathryn Kochenower

Bio Detail

Kathryn (Katie) A. Kochenower has been working in the insurance industry since 1986 and is currently a branch owner and producing agent for The Writer Agency, LLC, a Nebraska based independent insurance agency. After attending the University of Denver, she began her insurance career with The Gilbaugh Agency, Inc., becoming majority owner and president in 1998. She merged her agency with First State Bank in Scottsbluff in 2000. Katie left the bank agency in 2004 to open the Gering, Nebraska branch of The Writer Agency and then expanded this branch to Windsor, Colorado in 2017. Katie has been an active board member and/or chairperson of several IIAN committees since 2001. She served as President of the Independent Insurance Agents Association of Nebraska (IIAN) in 2007-2008 focusing on education as a means to perpetuate the insurance industry. She served as IIAN Foundation President in 2015-2016, carrying on her work to promote insurance education. She is currently chairperson of the Professional Development Committee which is dedicated to industry and agent betterment through education and advocacy. She was named IIAN's "Young Agent of the Year" for her involvement in the insurance industry in 2005 and received the "Distinguished Service" award in 2009. As a member of Business and Professional Women, she was awarded both the Young Careerist Award and the Woman of the Year Award in recognition of her business accomplishments, community involvement, and willingness to serve as a mentor to others. She earned her CIC designation in 1994 and her CRM designation in 2009. She also earned her Associate in Production (AIP) designation in 2009. Katie has taught Certified Insurance Service Representative (CISR) classes throughout Nebraska, Colorado, Kansas, and South Dakota since 1996, including the Hold Advanced Learning seminars. Katie has been a certified instructor for the Elite Force Sales Training School since 2008. Additionally, she provides pre-licensing training and tutoring to individuals studying for their Nebraska Insurance Agent Licensing Exam. She has developed a series of online collegiate level insurance courses forming part of an Associate's Degree program which she currently teaches as an adjunct professor for community colleges in Montana and Nebraska.
