Leonard Watson

Bio Detail

Len Watson is a charter member of the National Faculty for the CRM Program and president of his own consulting firm, Phoenix Resource Systems, Inc., headquartered in Bluffton, SC. He specializes in organizational performance improvement. Len is also a faculty member at Georgia Southern University and teaches statistical analysis at the Armstrong campus in Savannah, GA. He previously served on the business faculty of Palm Beach Atlantic University, the University of Phoenix, and Mars Hill College. Prior to his career in education, he was chief operations officer for a large insurance agency in North Carolina, and earlier served in senior management for several international insurance companies. He has served as a director with the American Institute for CPCU and has written numerous texts, including the Global Environment of Insurance, published by the Insurance Institute of America. Len earned his doctoral and master's degrees from the University of Delaware, and received his undergraduate degree from the University of Connecticut. He has earned the CIC, CRM, CPCU, and AIC designations. Len believes that businesses increasingly need the analytical and critical thinking skills that the risk management profession brings to organizational decision making. He is dedicated to increasing the visibility of the risk management profession among senior management groups in all organizations.

Jeffrey Driver

Bio Detail

Jeff Driver is the chief consultant and principal of Soteria Risk Works, LLC. Spanning over twenty-five years of professional practice in his prior roles as chief risk officer at Stanford Medicine, Harvard's Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, and Children's Hospital San Diego, Jeff had overall strategic and tactical accountability for enterprise risk management, including the formation and executive responsibility for their captive insurers. In his role as CEO of The Risk Authority Stanford, Jeff led the formation and focus of a team whose philosophy was that every problem has a solution just waiting to be designed. Together they co-created revolutionary approaches to risk management, including the use of artificial intelligence in risk identification, incorporating decision analytics in claim reserve and trial strategy, and a global partnership in clinical risk management innovation throughout hospitals in the United Kingdom and the United States. In 2018, Jeff partnered with alums of the world-leading design firm "IDEO" to author Discovery Design - an industry-first textbook for healthcare professionals in how to use Design Thinking to drive healthcare innovation and sustainable improvement. As a pragmatic academic, Jeff is a lifelong student dedicated to continually interrupting the status-quo in a constant vision to increase the effectiveness of risk management and patient safety. Jeff holds a BS in respiratory technology and practiced clinically as an intensive care patient life support specialist before becoming a risk manager and receiving his MBA in healthcare administration. Early in his risk management career, Jeff earned a Juris Doctor and is a member of the California Bar. Recently, Jeff completed his dissertation at the University of Oxford leading to the award of MSc. in Evidence-Based Healthcare which will be conferred in early 2019. Jeff is a faculty associate for Arizona State University College of Nursing and Health Innovation and a Doctor of Management candidate at Case Western Reserve University.
