Cristina Pedraza-Martinez*

Bio Detail

Cristina Pedraza, is a Senior Vice President for Popular Insurance, Inc., an Insurance General Agency and Corporate Agent affiliated with Popular, Inc. in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico. She currently leads an expert team of individuals in designing and implementing insurance and insurance-related product sales and marketing campaigns to bank related customers within Popular's corporate agent operation. She is also responsible for strategically directing the Marketing and Public Relations efforts throughout Popular Insurance, Popular Risk Services and Popular Insurance VI entities all insurance subsidiaries of Popular, Inc. Previous experience in Popular Insurance also includes leading the Insurance Business Strategic Plan, and directing the Legal and Compliance Unit, where she managed the Compliance Program for the Insurance Business entities and was responsible for their legal affairs, such as contract management, licensing requirements, Commissioner of Insurance's administrative affairs, continued education, due diligence procedures, and legal claims. Cristina earned her CIC designation in 2005 and is a faculty member of The National Alliance, teaching at CISR programs in Puerto Rico since 2006, and more recently at CIC Institutes. She has collaborated with The National Alliance's Resources Magazine and has also served as a Ruble Graduate Seminar Faculty Member, as a Faculty Member at the Puerto Rico InterAmerican University, and as a guest speaker for several educational activities. In 2007 Cristina was appointed by the Commissioner of Insurance of Puerto Rico to serve as a member of the Insurance Code Review Team and in 2010 was appointed Member of The National Alliance's CISR Board of Governors for a six-year term, and in 2017 was appointed Member of The National Alliance's Academy Board. Cristina is an Attorney at Law and a Certified Public Accountant. She has a Juris Doctor from the University of Puerto Rico's School of Law and a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration with a double major in finance and accounting also from the University of Puerto Rico. She is also a licensed insurance agent for Property and Casualty, Title and Life & Disability lines.
