Faculty NameTed Kinney
Ted Kinney is the owner/President of Kinney Training and Consulting, LLC, which specializes in providing quality insurance training programs to agencies and companies throughout the United States.
Ted also serves as the Director of Education and Technical Affairs for the Alabama Independent Insurance Agents in Birmingham, Alabama. In this position, he is responsible for developing agent education programs and providing technical assistance to association members.
Ted has been in the insurance business since his graduation from the Ohio State University in 1973. During his career, he has worked as an underwriter, field sales manager, department supervisor, marketing specialist, trainer and insurance agent. From 1994 to 2003, Ted was the Director of Curriculum and Faculty Development for PIA of Ohio & Indiana. During that time, he developed over 150 training courses covering all aspects of the insurance industry.
He has obtained several insurance designations including Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC), Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Associate in Risk Management (ARM), Associate in Underwriting (AU), Associate in Automation Management (AAM), Accredited Advisor in Insurance (AAI), Associate in General Insurance (AINS), Certified Professional Insurance Agent (CPIA) and Construction Risk and Insurance Specialist (CRIS).
He is a member of the national faculty of the Society of Certified Insurance Counselors, the American Insurance Marketing Society (CPIA) and the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of America's "ask the expert" service. In addition, Ted is a member of the Society of Certified Insurance Counselors, the National Academy of Producer Insurance Studies, the National and Columbus Chapter of the CPCU Society, and the Society of Insurance Trainers and Educators.
Faculty NameSteven Lyon
Steven Lyon is the Founder and Principal of Lyon Consulting Services, LLC, an independent educational consulting firm. Steve utilizes his 37 years of experience that comes from owning, operating, and managing a third-generation independent insurance agency in Northern New Jersey.
In addition to owning an agency, Steve has served as the Regional Director of Education for a large brokerage firm, and was Regional Vice President in charge of personal lines for the Insurance Division of a dynamic Banking Institution.
Steve earned his CIC designation in 1980 and CRM in 2003. In addition, he holds the CPCU, ARM, AAI, AFIS, CRIS, AIS and MLIS designations. He is a National Faculty member for the National Alliance who regularly speaks at Ruble Graduate Seminars, CIC Institutes, Dynamic of Service classes, and CISR programs throughout the United States and Puerto Rico. In addition, Steve works closely with a wide variety of Professional Insurance Agent Associations, Independent Insurance Agent Associations, Large Brokers and Insurance Carriers.
Faculty NameKeith Wilts
Keith Wilts is President of Professional Training Associates, Inc. (PTA), a national education management and training company, whose focus is the development and delivery of live web-based education programs. With over 38 years of experience involving production and consulting activities on both personal and commercial accounts, Keith presents more than 100 webinars and seminars annually.
Keith is a member of the National Faculty for the Society of Certified Insurance Counselors (CIC), teaching at the CIC institutes and James K. Ruble Graduate Seminars. In addition, he serves as an educational consultant for the Society of CIC and the Missouri Association of Insurance Agents.
Keith previously served as Director of Education for the Independent Insurance Agents of Kentucky. He also was a member of the National Education Committee and the National ACSR Exam Review Committee for the Independent Insurance Agents of America, the License Administration Committee for the Kentucky Department of Insurance, and as education chairperson for the Kentucky Chapter of CPCU.
