Faculty NameDuane DiPirro
Duane DiPirro is a National Faculty member of the Society of Certified Insurance Counselors and a frequent speaker for PIA of New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. Duane has served as Education Consultant for CIC institutes conducted by the PIA of New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut, and the National Alliance for Insurance Education & Research. He also is a Charter Faculty Member of the School for Producer Development with The National Alliance.
Named Professional Educator of the Year by PIA of New York, Duane is a native of Buffalo, New York. He graduated from Florida Atlantic University with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration and began his insurance career in 1977 as a Commercial Lines Underwriter with the Liberty Mutual Insurance Company and shortly thereafter joined Liberty Mutual's sales team as a Business Sales Representative.
Duane continued to pursue his insurance education by attaining the Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designation in 1989 and the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation in 1999.
Upon joining the independent agency system, Duane spent 13 years with the Lawley Insurance Group in Buffalo as a Commercial Lines Marketing Executive and Marketing Manager. Subsequently, Duane spent time as Vice President with Marsh Inc. having the responsibility of managing large multi-national accounts in the upstate New York office in Buffalo.
At present, Duane is Director of Underwriting & Compliance and acts as a Senior Account Executive with the Lawley Insurance Group in Buffalo, New York managing key large accounts for the agency principals.
Faculty NameRichard Pitts
Richard S. Pitts is Vice President and General Counsel to Arlington/Roe & Co., Inc., an insurance brokerage and managing general agent headquartered in Indianapolis. Rick also serves as general counsel to the Independent Insurance Agents of Indiana, Inc. As counsel to the "Big I," Rick speaks annually at the association's Agency Compliance Seminars and teaches various seminars on insurance and employment related matters. Rick has also presented continuing education seminars to insurance professionals nationally.
Rick is a 1983 graduate of Wabash College and a 1986 graduate of the Indiana University McKinney School of Law. He clerked for the Honorable Patrick D. Sullivan, a judge of the Indiana Court of Appeals in 1986-87. Rick is admitted to practice before Indiana state and federal courts, the United States Supreme Court and the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit and is a member of local, state, and national bar associations. He has tried cases and participated in over seventy appeals.
Rick has served as a panelist and lecturer on a variety continuing education subjects, including cyber-related risks, the Americans with Disabilities Act, "Mold: Issues Under the Microscope" for the Indiana Continuing Legal Education Forum (ICLEF), and "Insurance Issues for Builders" for the Indiana Builders Association. Rick has also served as chair of several ICLEF seminars, including "Advanced Corporate Practice," "Privacy Law," and "Insurance Coverage Issues." Rick has also presented seminars on "Insuring Fiduciary Exposures," "Insurance Coverage Disputes," and "Agency Succession and Perpetuation." He has co-authored articles appearing in the Indiana Law Review.
Faculty NameDavid Henry
David W. Henry is a graduate of Emory University and the University of Florida College of Law. He is a shareholder in the Orlando office of Marshall Dennehey Warner Coleman & Goggin. His litigation practice primarily involves E&O, D&O, intellectual property litigation and representation of employers in employment-related litigation.
In addition to teaching and his litigation practice David serves as a Florida Supreme Court Certified Civil and Appellate Mediator. David teaches mediation advocacy and training for attorneys and insurance carrier representatives across the United States. Since 1994 he has been a member of the National Faculty of the Society of Certified Insurance Counselors and he has spoken to over 10,000 lawyers and insurance professionals across the United States, the Bahamas and London on issues relating to errors & omission liability, effective mediation advocacy, insurance coverage and claims handling. He has been published in Entrepreneur magazine, the Florida Bar Journal, Insights, and National Underwriter, P&C Edition.
