Faculty NameTed Kinney
Ted Kinney is the owner/President of Kinney Training and Consulting, LLC, which specializes in providing quality insurance training programs to agencies and companies throughout the United States.
Ted also serves as the Director of Education and Technical Affairs for the Alabama Independent Insurance Agents in Birmingham, Alabama. In this position, he is responsible for developing agent education programs and providing technical assistance to association members.
Ted has been in the insurance business since his graduation from the Ohio State University in 1973. During his career, he has worked as an underwriter, field sales manager, department supervisor, marketing specialist, trainer and insurance agent. From 1994 to 2003, Ted was the Director of Curriculum and Faculty Development for PIA of Ohio & Indiana. During that time, he developed over 150 training courses covering all aspects of the insurance industry.
He has obtained several insurance designations including Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC), Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Associate in Risk Management (ARM), Associate in Underwriting (AU), Associate in Automation Management (AAM), Accredited Advisor in Insurance (AAI), Associate in General Insurance (AINS), Certified Professional Insurance Agent (CPIA) and Construction Risk and Insurance Specialist (CRIS).
He is a member of the national faculty of the Society of Certified Insurance Counselors, the American Insurance Marketing Society (CPIA) and the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of America's "ask the expert" service. In addition, Ted is a member of the Society of Certified Insurance Counselors, the National Academy of Producer Insurance Studies, the National and Columbus Chapter of the CPCU Society, and the Society of Insurance Trainers and Educators.
Faculty NameRobert Ford
Robert Ford is Senior Vice President, and Director of the Claims Division for American Insurance Center. Bob started in the insurance business at age 19, when he was hired by Nodak Mutual Insurance Company as a territory producer in Wahpeton, North Dakota, and later transferred to Dickinson North Dakota.
Bob returned in 1978 to Devils Lake, North Dakota to work in and purchase the family run agency. He has been with Ford Insurance Agency ever since.
Bob has since involved himself in the insurance industry participating in several programs. Early in his career he started training with the IIAA of Iowa at the University of Iowa on an annual basis with their agency management school. These sessions were led by nationally known Dr. Emmett Vaughn. Those sessions helped Bob to lay the foundation for a good understanding of the insurance industry and the agency company relationships.
Bob was elected to serve on the Board of Directors for North Dakota PIA (Professional Insurance Agents), and served in that position for 13 years. During that time his favorite activity was chairing the education committee. He held that position for eight years. Bob especially enjoyed chairing the education committee because in his view education is critical to a successful career. He has been privileged to serve as North Dakota PIA President and has also served as North Dakota PIA National Director.
In trying to further his education, Bob completed his CIC designation in 2001, and his CISR designation in 2006. In addition, he has earned the following insurance designations, CPIA (Certified Professional Insurance Agent), CLCS (Commercial Lines Coverage Specialist), MLIS (Management Liability Insurance Specialist), and CRIS (Construction Risk Insurance Specialist).
Enjoying education so much, Bob continues his educational pursuits by teaching many insurance workshops each year around the country, and is also a member of the national faculty for the Society of Certified Insurance Counselors.
Faculty NameJohn Immordino
John Immordino is a Vice President at Arlington/Roe, a wholesale insurance broker and MGA. His focus is in placing coverage for professional liability, management liability, and cyber risks. John has been placing Cyber Liability insurance for risks since 2004 when only a few carriers offered this product. John is currently the administrator for the Big I Agents Cyber Secure Program which is currently available in over 40 states. John previously worked as an operations officer for an independent insurance agency where he facilitated risk management programs and rounded out accounts. He had also worked as a business consultant in project development, internal controls, management, and marketing.
John is a member of the Professional Liability Underwriter's Society (PLUS) and participated in the Midwest Steering Committee. He sits on the IIA of Illinois Educational Committee, the Agent's Insurance Services Board and he is a licensed P&C agent. He received his Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designation in 2006, his Registered Professional Liability Underwriter (RPLU) designation in 2008, his Certified Risk Manager (CRM) designation in 2010, the Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US) in 2014, and the Certified Programs Leader in 2015.
John has spoken at numerous functions on the topics of Employment Practices, Directors and Officers Liability, Information Privacy, and Network Security.
