Charles Matejowsky

Bio Detail

Charlie Matejowsky, CIC, LUTCF is vice president of financial services for Van Dyke, Rankin & Co. Inc., in Brenham, Texas. He joined the firm in June 1982, as a personal and commercial lines producer. Since March 1990, he has served in his current position and works almost exclusively on the life and financial services side of the business. As a "Retirement Repairman" he serves both individual and group clients. Prior to joining Van Dyke, Rankin & Co., he served 15 years as a classroom teacher and coach in several Texas Cities. Matejowsky is a 33-year member of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors and is a charter member of the American Health Insurance Association. He has served in numerous leadership roles at both local NAIFA-Central Texas and NAIFA-Texas. In 2016, he was awarded the Bruce Murry Tall Texas Award based on his association involvement, community service and education. He earned his CIC designation in 1986 and has been a National Faculty member for the National Alliance for Insurance Education and Research for 20 years and instructs both basic and advanced classes all over the United States. He also served as a moderator for the American College of Financial Services' Life Underwriter Training Council for 20 years. Charlie prides himself in being an A B C (Aggie-Bohemian-Coach) kind of guy. His goal is to educate clients and prospects and help them make those very important lifetime and retirement decisions.

Lance Ewing

Bio Detail

Lance J. Ewing has extensive executive experience in the field of risk management and insurance including his role as EVP Global Risk Management for Cotton Holdings, Inc. Previously he was the VP Real Estate and Hospitality & Leisure Industry Practice Group Leader at AIG with a portfolio of $1.4B of GWP. Prior to this position he served in senior global risk management capacities for Caesars Entertainment, GES Exposition Services/VIAD and for the City of Philadelphia School District. Mr. Ewing additionally worked for various insurance companies including Lumbermen's Underwriting Alliance, Pennsylvania Hospital Insurance Company (PHICO) and New York Lumberman's Insurance Trust in risk management, underwriting and risk control capacities. He also was President of three insurance captives. Mr. Ewing received his Master's degree in Law & Justice from the University of Pittsburgh and completed his second Master's degree in Occupational Safety Engineering. In addition to his Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designation and his International Certified Risk Manager (CRM) designation, he is a matriculated Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) candidate and has completed his Enterprise Risk Management Professional designation (ERMP). Lance was National President in 2003-2004 for the Risk & Insurance Management Society (RIMS) and was also their Chief Risk Officer (CRO). He teaches risk management as a faculty member for the National Alliance for Insurance Education & Research. He also served as a Board member for the Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) Board. In 2004, he was privileged to have a scholarship in his name (Lance J. Ewing Educational Scholarship) for the Certified Risk Management International designation which grants educational scholarships. He serves on the University of Mississippi Business School (Risk Management) Advisory Board, where a scholarship was created "Ewing Endowment for Business Excellence in Risk Management and Insurance". Mr. Ewing was honored as the Real Estate Insurance Leader in 2014-2015 for Globe Street and was the 2008 Risk Innovator of the Year. In 2007, Lance was named Risk Manager of the Year (Business Insurance). He has authored several articles on insurance, risk management, crisis management, and workers' compensation. He is a frequent speaker on enterprise risk management, global claims, disaster recovery, and risk financing issues for organizations including Claims Litigation Management (CLM), USLAW, Harmonie Legal Group, RIMS, Willis Real Estate Symposium, and AON Conference. Mr. Ewing is an expert witness as part of the Insurance Expert Network. Lance has worked and spoken internationally to promote insurance and risk management as well as developed unique risk transfer and claims settlement opportunities for his companies and clients. Mr. Ewing continues to be a strong and outspoken supporter of the risk management/insurance profession.

Steven Lyon

Bio Detail

Steven Lyon is the Founder and Principal of Lyon Consulting Services, LLC, an independent educational consulting firm. Steve utilizes his 37 years of experience that comes from owning, operating, and managing a third-generation independent insurance agency in Northern New Jersey. In addition to owning an agency, Steve has served as the Regional Director of Education for a large brokerage firm, and was Regional Vice President in charge of personal lines for the Insurance Division of a dynamic Banking Institution. Steve earned his CIC designation in 1980 and CRM in 2003. In addition, he holds the CPCU, ARM, AAI, AFIS, CRIS, AIS and MLIS designations. He is a National Faculty member for the National Alliance who regularly speaks at Ruble Graduate Seminars, CIC Institutes, Dynamic of Service classes, and CISR programs throughout the United States and Puerto Rico. In addition, Steve works closely with a wide variety of Professional Insurance Agent Associations, Independent Insurance Agent Associations, Large Brokers and Insurance Carriers.
