Dick Clarke is a veteran of the property/liability insurance industry, having worked as underwriter, broker and consultant through hard and soft market cycles. He was formerly Senior Vice President with the regional brokerage, J. Smith Lanier & Co. headquartered in Georgia, having retired late in 2016.
He publishes articles and teaches on a variety of executive liability, cyber and E&O subjects, and functions as an expert witness, a consultant to buyers of commercial insurance, and to insurance companies concerning product development. He is a teacher in CE programs for several professional insurance organizations. His books are listed for purchase on Amazon.com, with the most recent, Executive Liability Insurance: Evolving Times, Evolving Exposures and Evolving Insurance appearing as a revised, sixth edition available early 2020.) Additionally, this book was translated into Japanese for the Risk Management community in Japan, in 2013. Dick provided content and editing for The National Alliance's on-line course on Directors and Officers Liability insurance (2015 to present) and was an original recipient of the CPCU Society's "Distinguished Instructor in Insurance" award, in 1996.

Faculty NameDavid Grunke
David Grunke is a speaker, coach, educator, project manager and employee benefit consultant at the Grunke Group, Inc. David has more than 39 years of health plan administration experience and has held management positions in claims, customer service, enrollment, provider contracting, marketing and sales. He gained his experience through employment at two major insurance companies, a pharmacy benefit manager, and a large independent insurance agency.
He has assisted companies as large as General Motors, Chrysler and Kimberly-Clark, Taft Hartley Trusts, employers as small as a 2-person chiropractic office, large blocks of individual insurance purchasers and numerous Trade Association plans.
David's undergraduate degree is in Business Administration and Finance from Marquette University, he also holds a Certificate in Sales Management from the University of Wisconsin - Madison, and is a graduate of the Certified Health Care Consultant (CHC) program at Purdue University and is a Registered Health Underwriter (RHU) and a Chartered Healthcare Consultant (ChHC) completing the courses of study from The American University in Pennsylvania.
He uses his diverse and expansive background and experiences to promote personnel and enterprise Sales & Retention Enablement via, profitable growth by design, managing the process and achieving balance.
David speaks on a number of "Health Care" topics including Federal Health Care Reform, Self- Funding of Employee Benefits, Prescription Utilization and Trends, Employee Benefit Management and Ethics.
He delivered multiple presentations to; the Wisconsin Association of Health Underwriters, the Independent Insurance Agents of Wisconsin, the Wisconsin SHRM Annual Conference, the Wisconsin Association of School Boards, Various Chambers of Commerce, the Professional Insurance Agents of Nebraska & Iowa, Wisconsin & Minnesota NAFIA, the Wisconsin Bankers Association and many Insurance Companies and Agencies.
In addition to his Consulting/Project Management practice, David is currently on the Board of Directors of the Latino Chamber of Commerce of Southwest Wisconsin and is a SCORE Certified Mentor volunteering with the Madison WI SCORE chapter.
Faculty NameRichard Pitts
Richard S. Pitts is Vice President and General Counsel to Arlington/Roe & Co., Inc., an insurance brokerage and managing general agent headquartered in Indianapolis. Rick also serves as general counsel to the Independent Insurance Agents of Indiana, Inc. As counsel to the "Big I," Rick speaks annually at the association's Agency Compliance Seminars and teaches various seminars on insurance and employment related matters. Rick has also presented continuing education seminars to insurance professionals nationally.
Rick is a 1983 graduate of Wabash College and a 1986 graduate of the Indiana University McKinney School of Law. He clerked for the Honorable Patrick D. Sullivan, a judge of the Indiana Court of Appeals in 1986-87. Rick is admitted to practice before Indiana state and federal courts, the United States Supreme Court and the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit and is a member of local, state, and national bar associations. He has tried cases and participated in over seventy appeals.
Rick has served as a panelist and lecturer on a variety continuing education subjects, including cyber-related risks, the Americans with Disabilities Act, "Mold: Issues Under the Microscope" for the Indiana Continuing Legal Education Forum (ICLEF), and "Insurance Issues for Builders" for the Indiana Builders Association. Rick has also served as chair of several ICLEF seminars, including "Advanced Corporate Practice," "Privacy Law," and "Insurance Coverage Issues." Rick has also presented seminars on "Insuring Fiduciary Exposures," "Insurance Coverage Disputes," and "Agency Succession and Perpetuation." He has co-authored articles appearing in the Indiana Law Review.
