This course covers the risk control step of the risk management process. Participants will study risk control fundamentals, the purpose and elements of a safety and health plan, identification of hazard controls, and effective management of school claims as a post-accident loss control reduction technique.

Jessica Schroeder

Bio Detail

Jessica Schroeder is a Risk Management Consultant with Aegis Corporation. In this capacity, Jessica provides insurance and risk management services to clients throughout the state of Wisconsin. Jessica began her career with two safety related internships while attending college, one at Lands' End in Dodgeville and the other at the State of Wisconsin, Department of Administration, Bureau of Risk Management, in Madison. Further experience was gained as the first Safety Coordinator at Miles Kimball, located in Oshkosh, the first Environmental Safety OSHA Manager at Organic Valley, located in LaFarge, and as a Loss Prevention Consultant at Wausau Insurance. Prior to joining Aegis Corporation in 2015, Jessica spent nine years at Cooperative Educational Service Agency 10, serving as the Environmental, Health and Safety Program Manager. At CESA 10, a nonprofit educational agency located in Chippewa Falls, Jessica and her team provided environmental, health and safety services to school districts and local governments throughout the state of Wisconsin. The goal of the program is to protect the health and safety of students, staff, and visitors, as well as ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. The program actively assists nearly half of the public school districts in the state of Wisconsin. Jessica presents throughout the state of Wisconsin as a member of the Wisconsin Association of School Business Officials (WASBO) Safety and Risk Management Committee as well as the Facilities Committee and as a Board of Director of the Wisconsin School Safety Coordinators Association (WSSCA). She has a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology/Safety Management from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. She is a certified Asbestos Inspector, Asbestos Management Planner, and Lead Risk Assessor. Jessica has also completed First Responder training and completed several OSHA courses including the 10-hour and 30-hour courses in construction, and the 30-hour course in general industry. In addition, Jessica completed the Building Operator Certification Level 1, the WASBO Facility Manager Certification Program, the Certified School Risk Manager Certification Program, and is a licensed property and casualty insurance agent in the state of Wisconsin. Jessica has worked with many organizations throughout the Midwest in such areas as environmental compliance, health and safety, risk management, liability, and worker's compensation. Jessica has spent the last eleven years working with public sector clients; however, previous experience was gained in insurance, food processing, general industry, state government, and mail order merchandising. Jessica is excited to be developing and distributing valuable information to her peers interested in risk management. In her spare time, Jessica enjoys time spent outdoors, golfing, biking, fishing, and hiking as well as reading, watching Wisconsin athletics, and traveling with her husband.
