John Neal

Bio Detail

John Neal has over 20 years' experience in insurance company operations with specific emphasis in the areas of analysis and financing of risk. Over the past five years John supported the eastern expansion plans with Farmers Insurance. As Manager of Analysis for Risk Management Solutions, he managed a team of ten Risk Management Consultants responsible for supporting Liberty Mutual's Commercial Market Distribution and Service Management Department. John provided analytical support for consulting projects, risk financing design and structuring, finite (financial) insurance products, cost allocation projects, loss analysis, captive support, and industry benchmarking. John has also held positions as a Senior Risk Financing Analyst and Risk Management Consultant. Prior to entering the insurance and risk management field, John worked ten years in the pollution control and medical device industries as a chemical and manufacturing engineer, accountant, and financial manager. John's academic background includes a BS from the University of California, Santa Barbara and an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh. He earned his CRM designation in 2005 and has been included among the CRM National Faculty for The National Alliance.

Timothy Wander

Bio Detail

Timothy Wander is the Risk Manager for GEICO Insurance Company since 2005. He has been with GEICO since 1989, holding management positions in Underwriting, Claims, Product Development, and Product Management. Previously he was with Fireman's Fund Insurance company. Tim holds the Certified Risk Manager (CRM) designation from the National Alliance for Insurance Education and Research. He also holds the RIMS Fellow (RF) designation from the Risk and Insurance Management Society, and the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Associate in Risk Management (ARM), and Associate in Claims (AIC) designations from the American Institute for Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters. He is a graduate of the University of Idaho with a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Finance, and has a Master's in Business Administration (MBA) degree from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. He has been teaching CPCU courses since 1996, and was recognized as an Outstanding Course Leader by the American Institute for Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters. Tim was past President of the District of Columbia CPCU Society Chapter, also past President of the Insurance Professionals of the Rappahannock (IPRA) in Fredericksburg, Virginia. He has presented at the Virginia Business Education Teachers conference on personal insurance topics, and as President of IPRA, presented educational workshops to the public on personal insurance. He is a member of the CPCU Society, the Risk and Insurance Management Society, and the National Alliance.

Richard Rudolph

Bio Detail

Dr. Rudolph earned a BS in Accountancy from the University of Illinois-Urbana, where he also studied international monetary theory and insurance and risk management in graduate school. He attained his MBA in 1988 and his Doctor of Philosophy in Business Administration in 1989, specializing in insurance and risk management. During his active working career, Rich worked from 1972 to 1990 in local, regional, and national insurance agencies and brokerages, 1990 to 1992 as president of a wholesale broker firm, and from 1992 through 2012 as an independent risk management consultant. Positions held included account executive, health insurance manager, package underwriter, workers compensation underwriter, director of risk management consulting, director of training and education, director of communications, and director of internal quality assurance. In 2003, he joined The National Alliance faculty specializing in risk management and later became an educational consultant. Rich is the principal editor of The National Alliance Research Academy's Risk Management Essentials Handbook, and the author of Net Income Risk Management. In 2015, the Research Academy published his A Tedious Brief History of Insurance for the benefit of the Jerry Montgomery Memorial Scholarship Fund. Rich has written nearly 100 articles that have been published in the insurance trade press and newspapers, and professional journals, including Resources. He has also edited numerous insurance text books and study materials for various providers of insurance education. He has been leading insurance and risk management courses since 1981. In 1996, he was the first recipient of the American Institute for Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters/American Institute of America's Jack F. Derrickson Award for Outstanding Course Leadership, was listed on the American Institute's National Registry of Course Leaders and was recognized by the CPCU Society as a Distinguished Instructor. In April 2006, he was the first recipient of the Richard A. Gerrond Memorial Award recognizing commitment to professionalism, education, and ethical behavior presented by the CPCU Loman Foundation. He also served on the CPCU Society's Research Activities Committee and Ethics Committee. In October 2013, Rich was named to The National Alliance CRM National Faculty in recognition of presentation excellence and contributions to the CRM curriculum.
