CE FAQs

24 hours, including 3 hours of ethics are required every two years.

24 hours including 3 ethics/business practices on last day of birth month biennially. Service Reps: 12 hours & 1.5 ethics. CICs in good standing meet their requirement.

Annuities – At least 4 hours before 7/1/17.  If it was completed in another state, this would be compliant.

LTC – Initial would be 8 hours one time. 4 hours after that.

NFIP flood training – onetime 3 hours.

Ends on the last day of the producer’s birth month every two years.  Even birth years renew every even year and odd birth years renew every odd year.

Effective 1/1/13, no carryover hours will be allowed.

Self-study final exams are a closed book. Producers may not refer to the course material while the exam is in progress. 

 

The final exam must be passed with a score of 70% or higher to receive CE credit. If the exam is not passed on the first attempt, students have an unlimited number of retakes.

Self-study final exams must be monitored by a disinterested third party. Proctors may not serve for examinations of family members, relatives, or dependents; employers or supervisors; employees or subordinates; co-workers; current or former teachers or pupils; personal friends, or significant others; or for anyone in whom the monitor has an economic or other interest in assuring the successful outcome of the examination. Proctors that can be approved by the Department are professionals such as an attorney, minister, accountant, librarian, or a teacher from a local high school or college.

50 minutes with not more than 10 minutes of any 60 minute period may be used for breaks, roll taking, or administrative instructions.

Effective 1/1/17, all producers currently licensed to sell, solicit, and negotiate annuity products must complete a one-time annuity training course approved for at least 4 hours by July 1, 2017.  All producers are licensed on or after January 1, 2017, need this training before they can sell annuities.

If one of the following is true:

– Non-resident Adjusters

– nonresident licensee has met the CE requirements of the home state

– the licensee was licensed before 1/1/1980

– Licensee holds a temp. license

– Holds a limited lines license, retired, or travel license.
