Specialist courses that come with a certificate can be used as supplemental education or updates once a participant has attained a CSRM or CISR designation.
The WCS – Workers’ Compensation Specialist course comes with 7 general CE hours in Texas, Indiana, and Wisconsin and costs $165. The structure is similar to the CSRM courses: 7 hours of instruction followed by a one-hour (optional) multiple-choice exam that will earn the participant a WCS certificate.
Topics covered in the course vary by state due to governing state laws. However all courses cover general topics such as claims management, benefits (medical and income), return to work programs, and roles and responsibilities of injured workers, employers, insurance carriers and medical providers.
CISR and CSRM designees may update and earn continuing education credit by attending the WCS course without examination, but successful completion of the examination is required to earn the certificate.
