A status available to designees who are ready to retire, but not ready to give up the designation for which they worked so diligently and maintained for so many years. Emeritus status is maintained with annual dues payment and no annual update is required. The Emeritus status guidelines are:

  1. Candidates must be retired from the insurance or risk management industry
  2. years held designation plus age must equal 70 or greater, and
  3. Must be dues-paid members in good standing.

In recognition of the many milestones and achievements CICs have made in their successful careers, the CIC Board of Governors initiated the Tenured CIC status in 2011. Significant educational achievements and a record of maintaining your designation have broadened each individual’s substantial base of knowledge. Therefore, this special recognition of tenure has been granted to CICs who have met the following criteria:

  1. Held the designation for 25 or more years,
  2. or CICs who have not held the designation for 25+ years, but are 70 years old or older,
  3. Designation is in good standing,
  4. AND membership dues are current.

These CICs will be eligible for tenured status and may maintain their designation by paying CIC dues every year and attending a qualified program every other year.

Online Courses

Make sure you have the links for your scheduled webinars and review your course materials.

The National Alliance will email you a webinar link. You’ll simply click on this link to join

Don’t worry! We can send you another one right away.

Also, keep in mind that some work emails are very secure. You may need to update your email to a personal one like Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo, etc.  Otherwise, speak to your I.T. personnel and have our email whitelisted!

All course materials can be found by logging into SCIC.COM and clicking the prompt at the top of the page to take you to your online classroom.

Once there, click on Learning Activities

Prework or participation agreement looks like this.

Complete this by clicking Launch Prework and clicking SUBMIT at the bottom of the page!

Login to your PROfile at scic.com (not your online course) and go to your account.

Once in your account, click on Courses on the left-hand side.

Scroll down to the course you’re currently enrolled in and click Request CE to the right of the name of your course.

If you’re seeking CE and/or Update credit for your designation, you’ll need to attend the webinars live.

However, if you’re only taking the exam to obtain your designation, you don’t need to attend the live webinars. You can catch up on anything you’ve missed by accessing the recordings of each class located in your course materials.

Remember to close all background programs, as they can interfere with both the audio and visual quality of the webinar. If that doesn’t work, try logging out and logging back in.

Please let us know if the problem continues.

If you’re currently taking the required courses to obtain a designation, you’ll need to take and pass five exams.  However, you don’t need to take the exam if you only need CE or Update credit.

First, decide if you’d like to travel to a location or take the exam via an online proctor who will monitor you through a webcam.

Next, take a look at your course materials. Click on How Do I Schedule My Exam? and Exam Information. There will be a linked proctor locator list for those wanting to travel to a location. Search by city or state, then contact the proctor using the email or phone number provided to set up an exam appointment. Save the information to the proctor tab (see next FAQ to find proctor tab).

If you’d rather use an online proctor, go to scicproctor.com and pay the fee. Log on during the exam window to take your exam – no appointment is needed.

We will send all exam information to proctors the Friday before the exam window.

Only those who are taking the exam need to fill this out. You only need to fill in the form online. Nothing needs to be sent in.

You can find this under the proctor tab by following these directions:

  • Log into your PROfile at: www.scic.com
  • Click on Online Course at the top to go to your course website.
  • Click on Go To Your Learning Center (in orange).
  • Click on the title of your course (NOT the resume button).
  • You should see a proctor tab at the top.
  • Click Select and use the search bar to locate your proctor, then click to add.
  • Update the date and time of your exam. Hint: when you click on the calendar, use the small clock at the bottom of the pop-up to update the time of your exam.

There’s no way to verify individual attendance during the webinar. We can only do that after it has ended.

We’ll send you an email 48 hours after the webinar has ended to let you know if you’ve missed one or if you’re in danger of losing credit for the course.

We understand that the occasional poll may be missed due to technical issues, note taking, bathroom break etc. so missing one does not mean you are automatically counted out.

Please let us know if you ever feel you have missed one.
